Truly special

Last year I was this close to ordering the 10th anniversary edition of the BBC's 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice, aka P&P2, with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, to replace my homemade video complete with commercials, thinking I would treat myself to an upgrade. But from what I could see on Amazon -- scroll down on the above link and read the first disappointed review -- it didn't sound like anything more than what was already available on commercial video or DVD. And since I'm stingy, I just watched the special edition on wishlist and sat tight.

But now comes welcome news via AustenBlog that a really and truly special edition of P&P2 will be out in September, and inside the "gold-embossed green fabric slipcase" (oooh!) will be a newly remastered widescreen print and a bonus disc containing: Jane Austen "Biography" episode, an exclusive new retrospective documentary about the making of the classic series, a 120-page deluxe companion book The Making Of Pride and Prejudice (oooh!), and interviews with cast and crew. Did I say "oooh!" already? Gold and green are Christmas colors, aren't they? Oooh!
